A bus traveling towards Avcılar veered off the specially designated Metrobus lane and onto the E-5 highway yesterday morning after swerving to avoid two cars that entered the lane.
Despite some minor injuries, no one was seriously injured. Two cars on the E-5 highway in Merter lost control of their vehicles and entered the Metrobus lane despite barriers separating the Metrobus lane from the highway. The driver of the bus heading towards Avcılar swerved onto the E-5 highway, trying to avoid the two cars, where it crashed into another vehicle. While one Metrobus lane was open to traffic, the bus blocked traffic on the E-5 highway for 20 minutes until a tow truck came and removed it and the other vehicles from both the E-5 highway and the Metrobus lane. There were only minor injuries reported, with the driver of one of the cars in the Metrobus lane taken to Bakırköy State Hospital by ambulance. A woman was also slightly injured.
