The bus was driving on a street in Küçükçekmece where there are no street lights when a group of people threw Molotov cocktails into the bus. While some passengers protected themselves from the Molotov cocktails by lying on the floor, Serap Eser was unable to avoid the flames, and her face and arms were badly burned. She was taken to Bağcılar State Education and Research Hospital after an ambulance was called to the scene.Eser’s face and arms were reportedly seriously burned, and she is being kept in the hospital under observation. Police teams detained seven people at the scene of the attack.
Eser’s father, Zübeyir Eser, said he would file a complaint against the perpetrators of the incident and the Küçükçekmece Municipality for not lighting the street. Stating that such incidents always occur on that street, Eser said: “I ran to the scene as soon as I heard about the incident. I saw my daughter burning, and I jumped on her to save her. Then, an ambulance came to the scene and took her to the hospital. I will file a complaint against whoever caused this incident.”
