Women politicians’ struggle on big screen

“Bu Ne Güzel Demokrasi!” (What a Beautiful Democracy!), a documentary jointly directed by Turkish filmmakers Belmin Söylemez, Berke Baş, Haşmet Topaloğlu and Somnur Vardar, will be screened this week at İstanbul’s Osmanlı Bank Museum.
The film follows six women as they struggle to become deputies in Turkey’s 2007 general elections. The showing is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at İstanbul Technical University’s Taşkışla Campus.
