Foreign minister in Paris for talks

6 November 2009 / TODAY'S ZAMAN WITH WIRES, İSTANBUL
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu left for France on Thursday for a working visit in the French capital. The foreign minister is expected to meet with his French counterpart, Bernard Kouchner, today to discuss bilateral relations, Turkey’s European Union membership negotiations and subjects related to regional and international issues.
While in Paris, Davutoğlu will also deliver a speech titled “Turkey’s European Union Vision Through the Perspective of Global and Regional Peace” at the International Diplomacy Academy, established in 1926. Davutoğlu will also attend a press conference at the Foreign Press Centre (CAPE) to answer questions by French and foreign journalists. Davutoğlu will then visit the “From Byzantium to İstanbul: One Port for Two Continents” exhibition which was opened by President Abdullah Gül and French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Oct. 9 at the Grand Palais as part of the Season of Turkey in France. President Gül’s visit to France in early October was the last visit by a top Turkish official to France.
