Terrorist group raids wedding, kills groom

6 November 2009 / TODAY’S ZAMAN WITH WIRES , İSTANBUL
A group of outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members, led by a terrorist nicknamed “Hogir,” raided a wedding in a Turkish village near Turkey’s border with Iran, the Anatolia news agency reported yesterday.
The terrorists, who raided the wedding ceremony of Berivan K. and Emrah S., said they were charged with “collecting taxes” by their leaders and demanded TL 1,500 per household in the village. When villagers said they lived under hard conditions and that they could not give them the money, the terrorists said they would come back in a week and that they would take the children of those who did not give them money. A dispute then broke out between the villagers and the PKK group, and the terrorists attempted to take the bride and the groom with them. Mayhem ensued when the village residents refused to let the terrorists take the couple, with the groom grabbing the gun of a terrorist and killing the group’s leader and another PKK group member, while other terrorists killed Emrah S. and injured four children. Security teams have reportedly launched an operation to catch those involved.
