Israeli ambassador says Israel will continue seeking for peace

5 November 2009 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, GÜMÜŞHANE
Israeli Ambassador to Turkey Gavriel Levy said that his country would continue seeking for peace.

Levy held talks with governor Enver Salihoğlu and mayor Mustafa Canli of the northern province of Gümüşhane as part of his tour of northern part of Turkey.

He said at the meeting that there had been good relations between Turkish and Israeli peoples. Levy recalled that he was born in Bergama town of the western Turkish province of Izmir and had spent most of his life in Turkey.

Levy said that his country would never stop seeking for peace among the neighboring countries.

He said that Israel had established peaceful relations with Egypt and Jordan, adding that they were, now, working to improve ties with Syria and Lebanon.

Levy added that Turkey had always played a productive role to ensure peace in the region.

Yesterday, Levy visited the neighboring province of Trabzon. A group of students at the Black Sea Technical University protested him by throwing eggs on the automobile carrying Levy. The Israeli diplomat had to leave the university campus without holding talks with the rector.
