4 November 2009 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, MUGLA
Turkish companies have signed business deals with more than 200 Greek firms, head of a regional business chamber said on Wednesday.

Bülent Karakuş, the chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Aegean province of Mugla, said that Turkish companies joined the Second Turkish Export Products Fair in the Greek island of Rhodes and signed deals with Greek companies.

"Turkish companies have signed deals with more than 200 Greek companies," Karakuş told the Anatolia news agency.

Around 80 firms joined the fair, which was visited by some 8,000 people in three days.

Karakuş said he thought Turkish and Greek companies would sign more deals in the future.

Turkish Industry and Trade Minister Nihat Ergün inaugurated the fair held last week.

Turkey's export to Greece, which was 1.7 billion USD in the first eight months of 2008, was 1.044 billion USD in the same period of 2009.

Turkey imported goods worth 709 million USD between January and August 2009. The same figure was 794 million USD in the same period of the previous year.
