State meteorology officials said yesterday that western Turkey will face rain and mild temperatures arriving from the central Mediterranean region while storms are expected along the shores of the Aegean Sea, western parts of Turkey’s Mediterranean coast and the Black Sea. Temperatures nationwide will rise by five to seven degrees Celsius and will exceed seasonal averages. Rain is expected to abate by Friday morning.
Today, downpours are expected in the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolian, western and central Black Sea regions as well in western parts of eastern and southeastern Anatolia. Severe rainfall is expected in Muğla and Antalya, very strong rain is expected in eastern parts of the Mediterranean region, in Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay, and strong rain is forecast for the Aegean region, southern and eastern parts of the Marmara region and in northwestern parts of Central Anatolia as well as in the provinces of Düzce, Karabük, Gaziantep, Kilis and Adıyaman. On Thursday, downpours are expected in the central and eastern parts of the Black Sea region, in the eastern Mediterranean region and in eastern Turkey while thunderstorms are expected in the provinces of Sivas, Yozgat, Kayseri, Niğde, Zonguldak, Bartın and Sinop in the morning.
