Lack of roads forces detour by bridal party

3 November 2009 / TODAY’S ZAMAN WITH WIRES , İSTANBUL
At a wedding in a Hakkari province hamlet, the bridal party had to cross a drawbridge since there were no roads connecting the hamlet to the village, the Anatolia news agency reported yesterday.
The family of the groom, the Yiğit family, headed to Kırıkdağ village, which is 40 kilometers from the Hakkari city center, to take their bride from her house. Arriving at the village, the Yiğit family left their cars in the village and walked to the hamlet to reach the house of the bride, Zahide Akdoğan, crossing a wooden drawbridge to get there. After the wedding ceremony, held in the hamlet, the bride walked to the village with the groom’s family to go to her new home in the Yüksekova district of the province.
