President Gül travels to Slovakia of official visit

Turkish President Abdullah Gül travelled to Slovakia on Sunday on an official visit.

Gül who will be meeting Slovakian President Ivan Gasparovic on Monday told reporters before his departure from Ankara that improvement of cooperation between Turkey and Slovakia would contribute to establishment of lasting peace and stability in the Balkans.

The two presidents will discuss political, economic commercial and cultural relations and exchange views on opportunities for cooperation as well as regional and international issues.

Following the meeting the two countries will sign an agreement for construction of a joint military memorial in Bratislava for Slovakian soldiers who lost their lives in Galicia during WW-I and Turkish soldiers who are buried in various cemeteries in Slovakia.

The "Turkish-Slovakian Business Forum" will be organized jointly by Turkish-Slovakian Business Council and Slovakian Chamber of Commerce on the sidelines of Gül's visit.

Gül will address the representatives of the business sectors of Slovakia and Turkey at the business forum.

Businessmen from the two countries will discuss opportunities for cooperation in the fields of heavy industry, automotive and auto supplies industry, chemistry and defense industry, metallurgy, mining, textiles, food industries and health and tourism sectors during the forum.

Gül will deliver a speech at the Comenius University in Bratislava where he will be decorated with a gold medal.
