2 November 2009 / TODAY'S ZAMAN, ANKARA
President Abdullah Gül will give the maiden lecture at the new headquarters of the Ankara-based International Strategic Research Organization (USAK/ISRO), which will be inaugurated on Wednesday.

USAK, which was established in 2004 and has gained wide recognition as a balanced think tank since then, will move to its new quarters, called USAK House, on Wednesday. Around 50 ambassadors accredited to Ankara and senior diplomats from the Turkish Foreign Ministry as well as academics specializing in the fields of international relations and politics will be among the audience listening to the first lecture to be given at the new facilities. USAK works to stimulate debate and research on international relations and security issues through a dynamic program of seminars, conferences, workshops, publications, educational activities and media relations. The organization aims at encouraging greater public awareness of national and international developments and to help individuals and organizations understand an ever-changing and increasingly complex world. Area studies (Middle East, Central Asia, Caucasus, Balkans, etc.), ethnic studies, European studies, integration studies, international law, international politics, political economy, religion and politics, security studies (domestic and international), sociology and terrorism are among USAK’s core research areas.

The new headquarters, situated in Ankara’s Tan-doğan district, is a seven-storey building that includes a 150-seat conference hall, a 70-seat workshop hall and two separate seminar halls.
