Fener outclasses and outscores poor Banvit

2 November 2009 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
Fenerbahçe Ülker, fresh from its Euroleague Group B triumph over French side Asvel Basket on the road on Wednesday, pulverized visiting Banvit in game three of their Men’s Beko Turkish Basketball League (TBL) at İstanbul’s Abdi İpekçi Sports Arena on Saturday.
Fener Ülker led 22-18 in the first quarter and never looked back. The home team led 44-43 in the second quarter and 64-55 in the third, before eventually wrapping up the game 81-63.

Fener Ülker’s guard Lynn Greer was the overall top scorer with 24 points, while power forward Lance Williams topped the Banvit scoresheet with 18.

Other TBL results on Saturday: Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi 97, Aliağa Petkim 59; Pınar Karşıyaka 88, Kepez Belediyesi 76; and Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi 74, Beşiktaş Cola Turka 85.

In the Women’s Turkish Basketball League (TBBL) it was: BOTAŞ Spor 53, Samsun 51; Fenerbahçe 71, Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi 61; and İstanbul Üniversitesi 65, Galatasaray 83.
