Armitage, currently the president of Armitage International, will begin his service as chairperson as of Jan. 1, 2010, the ATC said.

General Scowcroft and Ambassador Armitage will travel to Turkey Nov. 16-20 for senior-level discussions with Turkey's government, military and business leadership. This timely visit will assure the smoothest possible transition for ATC,” the association has announced on its Web page.
Armitage had served as deputy secretary of state between 2001 and 2005. His Armitage International serves clients that focus on international business development in industries such as aerospace, communications, consumer products, construction, defense, finance and financial services, high-technology electronics, information technology and transportation. The ATC, meanwhile, praised Scowcroft for his “personal commitment to a strong US-Turkey relationship,” adding that he will continue to be an active member of the ATC board.
