Play has resumed in the first round of the Singapore Open on Thursday following a three-hour weather delay due to heavy rain and the threat of lightning at the $5 million co-sanctioned event.
The majority of the morning flights managed to complete their rounds before action was halted at 2:15 p.m. (0615 GMT) and once the rain stopped and the Serapong Course drained of excess water, play was allowed to continue. Ian Poulter is the clubhouse leader after the Englishman fired a five-under-par 66, one ahead of Ernie Els of South Africa and Taiwanese qualifier Chan Yih-shin. None of the 78 afternoon starters are likely to finish their rounds and will need to return early today to complete their opening 18 holes.
