Fener Ülker rallies for 1st Euroleague victory of season

Fenerbahçe Ülker could not afford to lose its Euroleague game two against French side Asvel Basket on Wednesday at the Astroballe in Lyon, having been beaten in İstanbul in the Group A opener last Wednesday.
The gallant Fener Ülker, therefore, showed staying power, shrugging off an incredible comeback by Asvel to win 78-76 in overtime after the game was tied 64-64 at the end of regulation time. With this victory, Fener improved its record to 1-1.
Terence Kinsey, the star of the night, banged away 21 points for Fenerbahçe Ülker, while Emir Preldzic, who netted 11 points, was the overtime hero. Young Ömer Faruk Aşık had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Ömer Onan 10 for the İstanbul side. The victory was a much-need morale booster for Bogdan Tanjevic’s side, which hosts Croatia’s Cibona at İstanbul’s Abdi İpekçi Arena next week.
Asvel Basket, which dropped to 0-2, may be heading for an early exit unless head coach Vincent Collet starts wielding his magic wand.
Other Euroleague results on Wednesday: Unicaja 86, Olympiakos 68; CSKA Moscow 69, Lottomatica 74; EWE Baskets 70, AJ Milano 79; and Real Madrid 94, Asseco Prokom 72.
