Speaking before a panel discussion organized by TÜSİAD in İstanbul yesterday, titled “Regulations following the Customs Law: Principles of Tax Statements, Market Supervision and Regulation Application,” Yalçındağ answered questions about her decision to leave the chairmanship by January.
“The chairman's post is a very honorable job, but it also comes with great responsibilities. But the time for me to go back to my own businesses has really come. I am very tired indeed, and it is now the best time to pass the baton on to another friend,” she said. When asked whether a name has been determined yet for the top post, she answered in the negative, adding, “Every one of the 590 members has the capacity, self-esteem and courage to fulfill the task.” She explained there were conventions and practices in place and said TÜSİAD would eventually offer one of its members the job of steering the association.
