Responding to journalists' questions, Sabancı evaluated the company's performance. He said he believed that the size of the initial public offering (IPO) would attract foreign investors, too, adding that they wanted 60 percent of the shares that are opened to trade on the market to be acquired by foreign investors. With the funds gained from the IPO the company is planning to purchase new airplanes, Sabancı said. The company currently has a fleet of 24 aircraft in service, Sabancı said, adding that this figure would be raised to 41 by 2015.
Sabancı stated that they are expecting to make a profit of 17 million euros this year and added that next year this figure would be about 40 million euros if oil prices remain at current levels. Pegasus also started flying from İstanbul to the Swiss city of Basel this Monday. Flights will depart on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The company will also start flights on Sundays as of Nov. 22. Sabancı said that plans are under way to arrange flights to Paris, as well.
