Did Başbuğ Paşa know the truth all along?

The story was first reported in the Taraf newspaper last June. The enormous headline read: “A plan to finish off the AK Party and Gülen.”
It was essentially a plan to create an atmosphere ripe for a coup and then overthrow the government. At a press conference in the wake of this report, Chief of General Staff Gen. İlker Başbuğ characterized the plan as nothing more than a “piece of paper.” What will happen now? I ask because, as it turns out, there was in fact a fresh signature at the bottom of the report. The original document itself has turned up. What’s more, if democracy is really to take root in Turkey, if the military is to truly occupy its correct spot within the framework of democracy in this nation and if civilian-military relations are to finally be settled, then the truth behind this report must be illuminated, and fast.
