Sertab Erener becomes voluntary EU ambassador

Pop singers Sertab Erener and Demir Demirkan have volunteered to work as ambassadors under the EU Communication Strategy Program of the General Secretariat of the European Union.
Meeting with State Minister and chief EU negotiator Egemen Bağış, Erener said that two years ago, they launched a big international project which was also backed by Minister Bağış.
“We are still working on the project. In the concerts we are going to give, there will be good opportunities for assuming such a responsibility and saying ‘We are Europeans.' So we'll do our best."
Musician and composer Demirkan thanked Bağış for his support and said: “In our messages, we will stress that ‘we are already Europeans.' To get these messages across, we are aware that we must do the right thing and bring quality music from Turkey to Europe, which I think is one of our best duties as ambassadors.”
