Body of British tourist lost at sea found

22 October 2009 / TODAY'S ZAMAN WITH WIRES , İSTANBUL
Coast guard authorities on Tuesday night found the body of 25-year-old Briton Joseph Paul, who had gone missing at sea in Fethiye five days ago.
According to reports, members of the coast guard located Paul's body in the evening hours near Karadere Beach's İnceburun area. Divers encountered some difficulty extracting the body, which was stuck between rocks. After their work was completed, the body was transferred to gendarmerie authorities and was later sent to İzmir's medical authorities for an autopsy.

Paul had been part of a 15 to 20 person tourist group, including his 20-year-old wife, Joanna Stephanie Paul, that visited Karadere Beach. The couple entered the water and both started to drown. Joanna was saved but her husband was not found. Relatives of the couple had come to join and support the search for Paul, but returned home before he was found.
