21 October 2009 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, TRABZON
The ambassador of Sweden, which holds rotating EU presidency, said on Wednesday the development that took place at Habur border crossing was the first positive step regarding the democratic move of the Turkish government.

A group, consisting of 34 members of the terrorist organization PKK, surrendered to Turkish authorities at the Habur border gate between Turkey and Iraq and they were released.

Ambassadors of the European Union (EU) member countries visited Governor Recep Kizilcik of northeastern province of Trabzon.

Replying to a question, Swedish Ambassador to Turkey Christer Asp said that EU supported every kind of democratic initiative. The solution which would be found under the democratic move of the Turkish government must be the one which would yield peace, Asp said.
