Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (TÜSİAD) has not approved increasing the length of its executive members' term in office from two years to three, Mustafa V. Koç, the chairman of TÜSİAD's High Advisory Council (YİK), said on Monday.
In a written statement released after a meeting of the board of directors, Koç said the board had evaluated TÜSİAD Chairwoman Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ's decision to step down from her post by the end of the year. The board thanked Yalçındağ for her successful chairmanship, Koç stated. Noting that the board also discussed the length of the term in office of the association's executive board members, Koç said the general inclination of the association is to leave the term of office unchanged at two years. Koç had previously suggested extending the term in office to three years, explaining that a two-year term seems short, while a four-year term is a bit long. Regulations can be drafted to make the term three years if that is what the majority desires, he said.
