“Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is considered to deserve this award for being a supporter and defender of Pakistan in the international arena in addition to making contributions to improving political and economical relations between Pakistan and Turkey,” Anatolia quoted the statement as saying.
Government officials, important members of the judiciary, parliamentarians and representatives from diplomatic missions in Pakistan are expected to attend a ceremony at the presidential palace at which the medal will be presented, the agency said.
While in Pakistan, Erdoğan is expected to sign a series of bilateral agreements with his Pakistani counterpart, Yousuf Raza Gilani. The prime minister will also visit Muzaffarabad, a city in the disputed region of Kashmir which was the location of a devastating earthquake in 2005. While there he will examine the work which has been done by the Turkish government and Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) as part of the rehabilitation efforts following the quake.
