Doctors helped a woman who was seven months pregnant and who was badly injured in a road accident in İstanbul deliver her baby by Caesarean section on Monday; however, the woman was pronounced dead after the delivery.
An automobile flipped over in the Şekerpınar neighborhood yesterday afternoon. The driver, Nuri Gündüz, and one of the passengers in the car, Şükran Kırkgül, died at the scene. Gündüz, who was seven months pregnant, was immediately taken to the Dr. Lütfi Kirdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital.Gündüz gave birth to her baby via Caesarean section, but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Doctors said the baby was in good condition.
Two other passengers in the automobile -- Sultan Kırkgül and Tuana Gündüz, who were slightly injured in the accident -- were released from the hospital after receiving medical treatment.
