The Indonesian media have given extensive coverage to the efforts of Turkish doctors, jointly organized by the humanitarian relief organization Kimse Yok Mu (Is Anybody There?) and the International Association for Health and Education (USEDER), who are providing medical assistance to earthquake victims in Indonesia.
Turkish doctors and organizations went to the area to help with relief efforts after a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia's Sumatra Island on Sept. 30. The free health screenings provided by the Turkish teams in and around the city of Padang have received broad coverage by the Indonesian media, which announced “Turkish doctors have won the hearts of quake victims.”Doctors who are members of USEDER and brought by the Kimse Yok Mu organization are treating 650 people a day in Indonesia. The assistance rendered by Turkish doctors has been aired by Indonesia's official state TV station as well. The Sept. 30 quake claimed 1,100 lives on Indonesia's Sumatra Island. The city of Padang and the surrounding area have been particularly hit hard by the earthquake.
