Turkish president speaks to US president by phone
The White House said that Turkey's President Abdullah Gül had a phone talk with U.S. President Barack Obama, and the two presidents discussed a number of issues regarding the broad strategic dialogue between the United States and its key ally Turkey.
Obama and Gül underlined importance of historic progress in normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations, and said initiatives should continue.
The two president reviewed the situation in Afghanistan, while Obama expressed his gratitude for Turkey's contributions to this country. They agreed to go on cooperating on this matter.
Leaders also discussed settlement of Cyprus problem and supporting Bosnia-Herzegovina's stability.
Gül and Obama also underscored importance of being in continuous consultation regarding significant global issues.
