In our report titled “Delay in delivery of Herons behind drill crisis, not politics,” a comment linking the cancellation of a military exercise Israel was to attend with a delay in the delivery of Herons was mistakenly attributed to government spokesperson and Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Çiçek.
In our interview, Çiçek did not mention the failed delivery of Herons, but simply explained that the General Staff had requested the cancellation of the exercise and the Turkish government had consented to the decision. Our report about Herons came directly from an air force official who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, not from Çiçek. We regret any inconvenience we may have caused our readers for this inadvertent error in translation.
