Garbage truck crushes dwelling, 2 dead

Two people were killed when a garbage truck rolled over, crushing their slum dwelling yesterday in İstanbul's Alibeyköy district.
A garbage truck in the Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality suddenly tipped over and rolled out of control while awaiting repairs, toppling into the dwelling of Cuma Anılır and his wife Zübeyde, who were asleep at the time but became trapped in the wreckage of the crash. Although Zübeyde Anılır was pronounced dead at the scene, her husband was brought to Okmeydanı Hospital, where he later passed away despite the best efforts of doctors. The couple's children, Mustafa, 13, who was not at home at that time, Muhammed, 8, Sezen, 18, and Seval, 15, survived the accident without injury since they slept in another room of the dwelling. Police officers have launched an investigation into the incident.
