Author Vedat Türkali, director Ülkü Erakalın, actress Sevda Ferdağ, composer Yalçın Tura, American director Bob Rafelson and Danish director Bill August all received honorary awards at the ceremony, in which the leading actor and actress of the popular Turkish series “Aşk-ı Memnu” (Forbidden Love) were presenters.As for other awards, prominent thespian Erol Günaydın received the Yıldırım Önal Memorial Award while movie set worker Halil Dede was given the Cinema Labor Award.
Stating that he learned he would attend the ceremony 20 minutes before it began, American director Rafelson joked: “I intended to watch the Turkey-Armenia soccer game. I am surprised that you are here while such an important game is taking place.”
Prolific singer, songwriter, author and filmmaker Zülfü Livaneli was also on stage during the ceremony, singing his famous songs along with an orchestra comprising Turkish, Greek and German musicians.
