Turkish director Akın attends premiere of ‘New York, I Love You’
The press was out in force interviewing the directors and stars of the film at the Ziegfeld Theater in Manhattan, where the premiere of the movie was held.
Stating that it would be his first time seeing the film in its entirety, Yücel said every actor dreams of making a film in New York but added: “I did not have such dreams, though. But I really love this city. When Fatih [Akın] wanted me to play the leading role in his movie, I accepted.”
“New York is a special place, and it is nice to be here,” Director Akın said, adding that those who love cinema must love the city as well because many artists grow up here.
Noting that he had never shot a movie in New York, Akın said: “I always wanted to work with my brother Uğur [Yücel]. I love and respect him. He has a special place in my heart.”
The prominent director stated that he went to the southern province of Antalya with Yücel in order to think about the movie. They worked on the script together, and they wrote it and shot it in New York.
About the movie
“New York, I Love You” is collaborative storytelling with 11 directors, featuring A-list Hollywood stars. The movie tells stories of love that take place in the city from Tribeca to Central Park and to Brooklyn.
