Serbia seeks 2 suspects in French fan killing

14 October 2009 / AP, BELGRADE
Serbia has issued warrants for the arrest of two fugitives suspected of taking part in the fatal beating of a French soccer fan last month.
Police chief Ivica Dacic has said one of the suspects had apparently fled the country. Serbian media have reported that he is in the Netherlands. The pair was allegedly among the hooligans who attacked French fans in a Belgrade pub ahead of last month's Europa League match between Toulouse and Partizan Belgrade. The attack left 28-year-old Brice Taton severely injured. He died in hospital several days later. Serbian police have arrested 10 individuals over for the beating, while authorities have moved to ban violent fan groups and far-right organizations.
