Turkish filmmaker Özcan Alper's internationally acclaimed 2008 feature debut “Sonbahar” (Autumn) has been nominated for a prize in this year's European Film Awards, the film's producers announced on Wednesday.
“Autumn,” which follows a former prisoner released from jail because of bad health during his last days in his hometown in the Black Sea city of Artvin, is nominated for the European Discovery prize, presented to an emerging director for his or her first full-length feature film. The 2009 European Film Awards will be presented on Dec. 12 at a ceremony in Ruhr, Germany.
