Siblings Ahmet Tuna Tekin (8) and Dilruba Tekin (7) and their neighbor's daughter, Turkan Ay (11), met up in the afternoon on the second day of Eid to collect candy from neighbors but never returned home. After several hours passed, both families became worried that their children had gone missing and informed the police.Since then, the Tekin and Ay families have been searching for their children and distributing posters with pictures of the children throughout the area. Concerned about the safety of their children, the families became hopeful after the Tekin family received a telephone call from an anonymous caller saying that the children were in front of the Kerim Züccaciye glassware store in Talas. The Tekin family informed the police of the tip and immediately went to the location of the store, hoping to reunite with their children. However, the store was closed and their children were nowhere in sight. With photographs of their children in hand, the parents asked bystanders if they had seen their children, but no one had, leaving them no choice but to return home disappointed and saddened.
Hamza and Leyla Tekin said their children were not the kind of kids that would just run away, noting that they have been crying and praying for their well-being for days. İbrahim and Özlem Ay said they want the children to be found immediately and also expressed their concern for the safety of the children.
