Col. Cemal Temizöz, who was arrested while he was Kayseri regional gendarmerie commander and was tried for responsibility for many, many murders, is holding onto his position now by dint of military will.
In fact, it has been revealed that Col. Temizöz was accompanied by some high-ranking officers while being brought to court. The legal advisor for the General Staff, Hıfzı Çubuklu, has said that Temizöz still holds his position in the gendarmerie. There is a list of allegations. Based on this list of allegations, Col. Temizöz has been arrested on the most serious of charges, and tried. But just look and witness the fact that the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), known for its discipline and for kicking out its members for the slightest of infractions, is now displaying a stance of actually supporting this colonel, who was accused of the most severe of charges. What sorts of feelings are generated by this stance adopted by the General Staff? What sort of stance do you now expect circles close to the General Staff to adopt when it comes to the whole “Kurdish initiative” topic?
