Uşaklıgil's classic novel to come alive on opera stage

An operatic rendition of Turkish author Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil's 19th century novel "Aşk-ı Memnu" (Forbidden Love) will be offered to opera buffs in İzmir during the upcoming opera season.
The İzmir State Opera will produce the opera, composed by Selman Ada with a libretto by Tarık Günersen. The synopsis follows the story of a man who marries a woman 30 years his junior, and traces her falling in love with his womanizer nephew.
