14 September 2009 / TODAY'S ZAMAN WITH WIRES, İSTANBUL
A bus traveling on the Gerede-Karabük road partially rolled off a road on Sunday, leaving three passengers dead and 28 injured.
The bus had left from Karabük and was headed to İstanbul, but lost its traction after rainfall in the early morning made roads very slippery. Three people, including a 3-year-old boy, died in the accident, while another 28 were injured.

Ambulances took the injured to the Gerede and Bolu state hospitals. The accident caused a major traffic jam, and only after a crane was brought in to move the bus out of the way did traffic return to normal. Gerede District Governor Mustafa Masatlı was present at the scene of the accident, following the developments. Masatlı said the bus rolled off the road and confirmed the number of dead and injured. Eyewitnesses also said the bus rolled off the embankment due to the rain.
