Teams arrested a man in the house during the evening raid, while the nine young women -- one of whom is reported to be 16 -- were taken to the police department to testify. The women said they had been told they were participants of the show and that under the show's rules they could have no contact with anybody outside the house. They said they were not allowed to leave the house after they realized that the setup was fake. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
Body of one of three missing workers in Adana found
ADANA The body of a young laborer who went missing on Monday in Adana province after falling into the Ceyhan River was found on Tuesday. Search and rescue teams have been working to find missing agricultural workers Gurbet Yıldırım, 16, Ceyhan Süslü, 16, and İslim Olgur, 18, since Monday. They found Süslü's body on Tuesday morning. The search is continuing for the other two. The men were working in a field around Yeşilköy and Kaldırım in the Yumurtalık district and fell in the Ceyhan River when they tried to cool off by the river.
One dead, eight injured in separate accidents in İstanbul
İSTANBUL One person died and eight people were injured in two separate traffic accidents in İstanbul on Tuesday night. Ayla Sıvacı, who was driving along the TEM Highway in the Küçükçekmece district, died when her car collided with a water tanker. The driver of the tanker, who reportedly crashed into the woman's car at high speed, was detained by police. In another accident in the Beylikdüzü neighborhood, eight people in a minibus were injured when the minibus went off the shoulder of the D-100 highway. The injured are reported to be in good condition.
24 detained in operations against terrorist organization
ANKARA Police apprehended 24 suspected members of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) terrorist organization in operations carried out in eight provinces Monday. According to data provided by the police, counterterrorism unit teams conducted operations in eight provinces including Ankara and İstanbul as well as the southeastern provinces of Tunceli and Diyarbakır on Monday, detaining 24 with links to the MLKP. Seven of those were detained in operations in Ankara. The suspects are being interrogated by the police.
3 killed in clashes between feuding families in Southeast
Three died and three more were injured as a result of reciprocal attacks between two feuding families in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır early this week. Brothers Mehmet and Remzi Yiğit were attacked by four armed assailants on Monday in Ergani. Remzi Yiğit died, while Mehmet Yiğit was severely injured. Members of the Yiğit family then raided Kömürtaş village on Tuesday, setting the house of the Kardaş family ablaze and shooting at them. Demet Kardaş, 17, and Perzan Kardaş, 15, died and Zülküf Kardaş was injured in the attack. Gendarmerie teams heightened security measures in the village.
