Şimşek was earlier elected a member of the consultative board of the symposium. Along with Nobel laureate economists and internationally renowned politicians, Şimşek will present proposals for a solution to the global economic crisis. The organization chooses members of their consultative board from among people whom they consider “future leaders.”
During the two-day symposium, current developments in the global economy, the international community and world politics along with the global environment will be discussed. Expecting to provide a collaborative setting to analyze the world's most important economic problems, the GES is different from other symposiums in that it monitors the progress of new strategies defined during the meetings and sees if they are successful.
In particular, the GES seeks to initiate a strategic dialogue on global economic affairs for leading policymakers, business executives, academics and other representatives of civil communities. Operating in the form of a global think tank forum, the symposium, held annually, aims to build communities to come up with practical solutions to current problems. Well-known academics, politicians and economists from some of the world's most prestigious institutions also take part in the GES.
