According to the Fırat news agency, Öcalan, in his weekly meeting with his lawyers on İmralı Island in the Sea of Marmara, where he is a serving a life sentence, also said the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) and its members are sometimes unable to understand his ideas, referring to a comment by DTP Diyarbakır deputy Aysel Tuğluk, who said if there is no other solution to the problem, the idea of separation can be discussed.
“Sometimes, DTP members do not know what they are talking about. Some people are talking about the possibility of separation. Others are saying separation is up for discussion. This is not true; what I am suggesting ensures the future of Turkey in the long run,” he said. Öcalan appealed to Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdoğan and said he will not hinder a solution, but will do his best to see it come about.
Meanwhile, he added that he thinks expectations of him are very high and everyone is waiting for his road map to be released, but if his contribution is demanded, then his conditions should be improved. He was expected to announce his road map in mid-August, but his plan, which is composed of more than 100 pages, is under investigation by public prosecutors and has not been given to his lawyers yet.
Öcalan, during the weekly meeting with his lawyers, also said the government has not shaped its plan yet and is facing difficulties.
