31 August 2009 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, BAGHDAD
Turkey's foreign minister, who is currently paying an official visit to Iraq, was received by the country's president and prime minister on Monday.

Upon his arrival in the Iraqi capital, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu first met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

The recent terrorist attacks in Iraq were on the agenda of the meeting between the two officials, diplomatic sources said.

During the gathering, Davutoğlu condemned the attacks and said that such acts targeted the stability of Iraq.

Commenting on the relations between Iraq and Syria, Davutoglu said that the recent attacks harmed the good ties between the two countries.

Davutoğlu also proposed the establishment of a tripartite mechanism between Turkey, Iraq and Syria in order to fight with such kind of attacks.

Speaking at the gathering, al-Maliki said that Syria was responsible for the attacks waged in Iraq, adding that the camps where terrorists were trained were located in this country.

After the talks with al-Maliki, Davutoğlu and the accompanying delegation were received by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.

The meeting at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad took almost an hour.
