30 August 2009 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, LJUBLJANA
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu met Saturday with his Slovenian counterpart Samuel Zbogar in capital Ljubljana as part of Davutoglu's official visit there.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the meeting, Zbogar said his country extended full support to the Turkish accession to the European Union and to Ankara's membership talks with the Union.

Davutoğlu said on his part that Turkey appreciated Slovenia's support for Turkey's bid to join the EU, saying that Turkey and Slovenia had "excellent political and economic relations."

"We have also agreed that Turkey and Slovenia should continue to cooperate in issues regarding the Middle East, the Balkans and the Caucasus," Davutoğlu said, inviting Zbogar for an official visit to Turkey.

"I will be very pleased to see you in Turkey in the shortest possible time to further improve our relations," Davutoğlu said.

The Turkish foreign minister is set to meet on Sunday Slovenian President Danilo Turk, Parliament Speaker Pavel Gantar and Prime Minister Borut Pahor.

Davutoğlu will also make a speech on global governance at the Bled Strategic Forum in Ljubljana.
