27 August 2009 / TODAY'S ZAMAN WITH WIRES, İSTANBUL
Akınsoft, a Turkish software company in the Central Anatolian province of Konya, has begun research and development (R&D) on manufacturing humanoid robots.
The company's executive board chairman, Özgür Akın, said on Wednesday that their work started two months ago, adding that they expect to begin production of humanoid robots by 2015. Akın said they projected spending TL 1 million on R&D and TL 10 million for investments. He added that after mass production of the humanoid robots started, each of the robots would be sold for TL 3,000. Akın noted that the robots would reduce people's daily working hours from an average of eight to 12 hours to four to six hours. Akınsoft has produced more than 140 software programs, and operating 11 countries.
