Turkey's newly appointed Permanent Representative to UN, Ertuğrul Apakan, arrived in New York, the United States on Tuesday.
Apakan is expected to attend on Wednesday a meeting of UN Security Council regarding the extension of the mission term of UN peace-keeping force in Lebanon. He is also expected to deliver his diplomatic credentials to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon the same day.
Turkey's former permanent representative to UN Baki İlkin completed his term in office and retired in the beginning of July. Turkey's deputy permanent representative to UN, Fazlı Corman, worked as charge d'affairs after İlkin's retirement.
İlkin served as Turkey's permanent representative to UN since 2004.
