Young Businessmen Confederation of Turkey (TÜGİK) President Hazim Sesli has said Turkey's agenda is changing rapidly, expressing deep concern that the economy seems to be losing importance on the government's agenda.
In a written note yesterday, Sesli recalled recent developments in the economy, which he assessed as signals of a recovery from the crisis. However, he claimed that if political actors shift their focus from managing the economy and fall prey to political arguments like in the past, these improvements may easily be reversed, leaving Turkey in a troubled position dealing with the negative effects of the economic crisis. "The government has contributed to the restoration of confidence in the markets with a number of incentive packages. But, the investors have not seen any concrete steps to ensure the practicality of these packages [about how effective these stimulus measures can be applied]. Seeing these steps will help them better understand the intention of these packages and contribute to the crystallization of their investments," he said. With concrete steps to realize incentive packages, employment numbers will also experience an improvement, Sesli asserted.
