Mets' Wright suffers concussion from beaning

17 August 2009 / REUTERS, NEW YORK
New York Mets third baseman David Wright suffered concussion after being hit in the head by a pitch from San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain on Saturday.
Wright was struck in the fourth inning by the fast ball on the left side of his helmet by his ear. Although a CT scan came back negative, the four-time All-Star was to spend the night at hospital, the team said. Elsewhere, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hiroki Kuroda was taken to hospital after being hit in the head by a line drive from Rusty Ryal during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix. Kuroda dropped to the mound and grabbed his head with both hands after Ryal lined his pitch straight into the starter's right temple in the sixth inning, prompting trainer Stan Conte and team mates to rush to his aid.
