Dorm students prepare aid packs before Ramadan

11 August 2009 / TODAY'S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
High school students staying in the H. Ali Male Students' Dormitory in İstanbul have prepared aid packages for people in need ahead of the start of the holy month of Ramadan as part of a social responsibility project.
After assembling 50 packages filled with new clothes, the students delivered them to the Kimse Yok Mu (Is Anybody There) aid association to be handed out to those who need them.

In a statement, dormitory manager Cem Ayhan and deputy manager Eyüp Akbaş noted: “Our students have organized an aid campaign for needy people before the arrival of Ramadan and donated the packages they prepared to Kimse Yok Mu. We applaud our students for their responsible behavior.”

Reşit Saraç, a Kimse Yok Mu official charged with coordinating aid projects, thanked the students for their support, adding: “Our young brothers showed a mature sensitivity to social issues with their behavior and displayed an example of a very nice charitableness. I want to thank to them and their teachers for their meaningful actions.”
