Two separate teams from the company are staging “Anadolu Ateşi -- Evolution,” an updated version of the company's long-running eponymous show “Anadolu Ateşi,” through Aug. 28 in open-air theaters in Marmaris and Bodrum in Muğla, Çeşme in İzmir and Antalya, the Cihan news agency reported. The company is also scheduled for one performance in İstanbul next Wednesday. Meanwhile one team from the company, continuing its residency program in Antalya, performs “Troya” every Tuesday and Friday evening at the Gloria Aspendos Arena near the ancient Aspendos Theater.The company will perform “Evolution” at the ancient theater of Çeşme on Saturday evening. On Wednesday they take to the stage in two locations, both at İstanbul's Kuruçeşme Arena and at the Marmaris Open-air Theater. The company's Bodrum appearance is scheduled for Aug. 15 at the town's ancient theater, after which they travel to Marmaris for two more performances, on Aug. 19 and Aug. 26.
“Anadolu Ateşi -- Evolution” is enriched with Roma dances, Caucasus dances and religious rituals such as the Alevi sema not included in the show's original version, which premiered in May 2001. The show is a mixture of ballet, modern dance and folk dance, and it recounts the story of Anatolia and its people. The performance is particularly well known for a spectacular drum sequence, which involves dozens of drums played by the dancers of the company in synch at one point in the show.
