Turkish filmmaking brothers Yağmur and Durul Taylan started work on their upcoming movie “Vaviyen,” their first feature since the 2006 thriller "Küçük Kıyamet" (“The Little Apocalypse”), the movie's producers announced this week.
The first week of filming on “Vaviyen” has been completed in the northern Anatolian city of Tokat, said İmaj Film in a written statement from the movie's producers.

The movie's script was written by screen and stand-up comedian Engin Günaydın, who is best known for his portrayal of the character Burhan Altıntop in the TV comedy series “Avrupa Yakası” (“European Side”). Günaydın also plays the leading role in the movie. The cast includes comedians Binnur Kaya and Settar Tanrıöğen as well as Serra Yılmaz, best known for her roles in Italy-based Turkish filmmaker Ferzan Özpetek's movies.

No details about the plot were revealed in the statement, but it is expected to be a cross between a comedy and a thriller, according to reports in the Turkish media. Filming is expected to wrap up in a month's time.

“Vaviyen” will be the fourth feature film by the Taylan brothers, whose first venture in feature filmmaking was the 2003 thriller “Okul” (“The School”). The duo directed a number of television series, most notably “Yabancı Damat” (“The Foreign Groom”), broadcast from 2004 to 2007 on Kanal D.
