Where does HSYK stand?

1 August 2009 / BUGÜN AHMET TAŞGETİREN,
The latest point of tension among the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) should be interpreted correctly as it is very pertinent to the future of the Ergenkon case.
The tension was caused by the fact that the majority of HSYK members have reservations about the ongoing Ergenkon case and by the suspicion that they will take disciplinary measures against the Ergenekon prosecutors and judges. In other words, there was a concern among the public that what happened to Ferhat Sarıkaya in the Şemdinli case can also happen to the Ergenkon prosecutors. Does the HSYK have an objective stance in the Ergenekon case? In order to reach a conclusion on this issue, we now have physical evidence, not just speculation, about the HSYK meeting: a joint written statement released by 10 HSYK members. This statement reveals the HSYK's stance on the Ergenekon case along with its prosecutors and judges. The general tone of the statement reveals that the HSYK feels uncomfortable about the Ergenekon case and has a negative opinion of its judges and prosecutors.
