Interior Minister Beşir Atalay announced on Wednesday that the government believes the Kurdish question will be solved through democratization and granting more rights to Kurds. Atalay said in addition to political parties, they will make an effort to hear opinions and take contributions from civil society organizations, academics, media representatives, journalists and writers. As part of these efforts, a meeting will be held by the International Strategic Research Organization (ISRO/USAK) on Saturday at the Police Academy in Ankara.
Many intellectuals and journalists have been invited to the meeting, which will be attended by Atalay, Prime Ministry Undersecretary Efkan Ala, Interior Ministry Undersecretary Osman Güneş, National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Undersecretary Emre Taner, National Police Chief Oğuz Kaan Köksal and Police Academy head Zühtü Arslan. Further workshops are also planned to be held by the government to listen to Kurdish intellectuals, chambers of commerce in the East and Southeast and representatives of civil society groups.
Reports prepared at the end of the workshop will be presented to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
